Gau Shala (Sacred Cow Sanctuary)
The Gau Shala at Sree Dharmashasthagiri Ayyappa Temple is a sacred sanctuary dedicated to the loving care, protection, and preservation of Gau Mata, who is revered in Sanatana Dharma as the embodiment of compassion, prosperity, and divine blessings.
At present, our Gau Shala is home to 10 indigenous and other cherished breeds of cows, including Gir, Hallikar, Punganur, Vechur, and Jersey. Each cow is cared for with devotion, ensuring a healthy and nurturing environment that reflects the temple's commitment to Gau Seva.
Devotees from various places visit the Gau Shala to spend time with the cows, offer fruits and green fodder, and participate in this sacred service.
